The Blake Family

Last Saturday morning I got to take family pictures of the Blake family, and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful morning. Sarah & I went to high school together, and it is so neat to see her with her little family so much in the same stage of life as me, just with two little girls instead of two little boys. (Now just go for your third Sarah!! lol) Their two girls, Izzy and Addie, are absolutely adorable and have similar personalities to my two boys which makes our conversation during the shoot and comparing similar stories even more fun :) 

Having kids definitely changes your life. There are chaotic moments, stressful moments, breakdown moments, and moments when you think you just might scream. But then there are moments that bring you to tears in a second at the sweet little something your toddler just said. The moments when they bury their head in your neck and you know they feel safer with you than anyone else in the world. The times when they come running to you, clinging to you, and you know how much they love you. There are the sunburst smiles they give that are the most refreshing, genuine, innocent expressions on earth. Those moments make it all worth it. I realized something during this shoot. I typically spend about an hour on each shoot that I do. And in that hour, when your shutter speed is sometimes set as high as 1/250th of a second, there are WAY more of those sweet moments than we could ever notice when we're just taking it all in at normal speed and not freezing every fraction of a second. 

That's what I love about this job. Freezing those missed fractions of seconds and focusing our attention on them. Our perception of life is determined by what we focus on. It was fun to think about this as I scrolled through these images and saw photo after photo of these beautiful fraction of a second moments. :)

Love that both girls are looking at me with those sweet little faces while their mommy and daddy look at each other in the photo above. 

The next two are the same photo but I can't decide which I like better, the black & white or the color, both are just gorgeous! 

 In the two above I absolutely adore Addie's big grin and Izzy's crossed ankles and cautious expression... captures their little personalities so perfectly.
