Nan & Nate: Engagement Session

Randi and Nate. Nan and Nate as my boys (and me) call them.
My baby sister is engaged, but not just engaged, engaged to the PERFECT guy for her, and getting married in December. Seriously, I could not be anymore ecstatic about this season in her life. She has been patient, sought the Lord, and never settled for less. And as a result she is now going to marry someone who will push her even farther in her relationship with Jesus, love her like crazy, and set out on the adventure she's always dreamed of with her. I am so proud of her, and so thankful for Nate. They are amazing together.
She is spunky, determined, can occasionally have mood swings (I mean it in the best way Nan!) and always planning for the future. Nate is calm, dependable, patient, takes life as it comes. They compliment each other so well. And they are crazy about each other. I just love watching them interact together. And I can't say much more than that without tapping down into those places of my heart that can't be put into words without tears. And I'm trying really hard not to cry right now. ;)

Naturally, when my sister got engaged I was so. excited. to do her engagement photos. My mind was alive with brainstorms for what we could do, where we would take them, lighting, etc. Randi has been my muse for quite a long time when it comes to photography... I remember taking photos of her to turn into sketches back in high school for my studio art classes. And I know she's not afraid to be creative, to be different. Add to that the fact that Nate is such a great sport when it comes to photos, and taking photos of the two of them is a dream come true for any photographer.

My initial vision was to create a lace teepee, and more details came together as I let the vision turn over in my mind. Randi wanted to take photos at the Hans Herr House too, which is where Nate proposed to her, and a seriously gorgeous historic location. And several days before their shoot I found my tree soul mate... Seriously, for like a year now I've been stalking the forests of Eastern Pennsylvania in search of this very tree. (You know you're a photographer when you admit to something like this...) So three locations, all within a few miles of each other.
The results of their shoot are beyond what I envisioned. They made the magic happen, and their love and playfulness together is so obvious in these photos. I am smitten with their entire session... And I've had so much fun working on them. :)
Without further adieu, my favorites from this dream session.

Location 1, the soul mate tree:

Location 2, the lace teepee.
(They fell in love after their first weekend together, but then Randi sealed the deal when she overnighted a box of her cookies to Nate... she is a FABULOUS cookie maker.... so I thought it only appropriate to include some of her baking in these photos. And they are so fun!)

Location 3, Hans Herr House.

"You've got magic inside your finger tips
Its leaking out all over my skin"

"Every time that I get close to you
Your making me weak with the way you
Look through those eyes"

"But all I see is your face
All I need is your touch
Wake me up with your lips
Come at me from up above"

"I remember the way that you move
Your dancing easily through my dreams"

"Its hittin me harder and harder with all your smiles
You are crazy gentle in the way you kiss"

"All I see is your face"

"All I need is your touch"

"Wake me up with your lips
Come at me from up above..."

And that concludes the most beautiful and romantic session I could have dreamed up.
Love you both so much, I can't wait for your day.
